Alexander Crosett has held teaching positions at Manhattan School of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and several major universities. His students have won prizes at international competitions (including the New York International Artists Competition) and performed at major venues worldwide. They have been admitted to programs at the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, Berklee College of Music, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts. His private studio won Thumbtack's Best of 2016 and 2015, ranking #1 among its lesson providers in New York City. He is a Steinway Educational Partner.
As a freelance music director, theater pianist, and vocal coach, Crosett has worked with stars of Broadway productions of Fun Home, Finding Neverland, School of Rock, Annie, Pippin, Matilda, Miss Saigon, Billy Elliott, Newsies, Mary Poppins, Soul Doctor, Big Fish, Little Miss Sunshine, A Christmas Story, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Shrek the Musical, The Assembled Parties, Enron, original West End productions of Miss Saigon and Cats, national tours of Mame, Annie and White Christmas, film including Into The Woods, and television's X-Factor, America's Got Talent, American Idol, Norwegian Idol and Chinese Idol.
His students have performed on major stages worldwide, from New York's Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Broadway/Off-Broadway theatres, the Metropolitan Opera, Steinway Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note (NYC and Tokyo), and Feinstein's/54 Below to West End theaters, Cirque du Soleil touring productions and venues across Europe and Asia (including the 2008 Beijing Olympics).
Crosett has performed at New York Steinway Hall; Merkin Hall; Muramatsu Hall in Osaka; the Goethe-Institut Boston; the Euro Arts Festival in Leipzig; the Amalfi Coast Festival; IPF Madrid and Paris; Centre d'arts Orford in Quebec; Riverdale Society of Ethical Culture; Harvard University; the University of Virginia; Interlochen Center for the Arts; Lander University Artist Recital Series; and Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. His performances have also been featured on television and NPR.
He won the Silver Medal at the Osaka International Music Competition in Japan as well as top prizes in the ROIMC Atlanta Piano Competition and Interlochen Concerto Competition. He earned a master’s degree in Piano Performance at Manhattan School of Music as a student of André-Michel Schub and a doctorate from the University of Georgia. He pursued additional studies with Jacques Rouvier and Eteri Andjaparidze, as well as masterclasses from such musicians as Aldo Ciccolini, John Perry, Peter Frankl, Ian Hobson, Solomon Mikowsky, Ann Schein, and Olga Kern.
